Is it cheaper to get a van wrapped or painted?
If you’re thinking about getting graphics and signwriting added to the outside of your van, then you’re probably wondering whether it’s cheaper to get a wrapping job or a paintjob. The answer is quite simple… a van wrap is cheaper.
Van wraps are economical in more than one way. For starters, the process of creating van wraps is so much simpler. All the illustrations and design work are digitally created on the computer. That makes it easier to correct mistakes and ensure that a perfect design is made before any physical printing is done.
As for the vinyl wrap material, it is a very affordable material that holds well to a vehicle. With a protective laminated layer added over the wrap, you can get several years out of it without any fading or damage taking place. So, you’re really only paying for designing, printing, and installation.
The installation, by the way, is not too complicated either. The vinyl has an adhesive material that allows it to stick to the vehicle easily without much hassle. It shouldn’t take the technician too long to finish the vinyl installation, depending on how extensive it is.
On the other hand, a paintjob is a much more complicated procedure. It requires the technician to draw the design physically onto the vehicle. A solid-colored paintjob would be no big deal, but a paintjob involving images and graphics is a very big deal.
Since a paintjob is permanent and more expensive, it is recommended that you know for sure that you want this change made to your van. Otherwise, you’ll need to pay for a whole new paintjob if you ever decide to replace it in the future.
The average cost of a van wrapping service is £800 to £2,500, while the average cost of a paintjob is between £1,500 and £6,000. Again, the factors of the price include the size of the vehicle, the amount of paint or wrap applied, and the complexity of the graphics.
If you’re unsure of which service to get, then van wrapping is always the safer and more affordable choice. It is easier to change your mind about van wraps because they can be taken directly off your vehicle when you want them to. A paintjob requires more money and a bigger commitment.
What our customers say
I had been using another company for my van liveries and had problems with the quality in the past. When the vehicles are geographically spaced apart it is very important to get it right first time. I searched for some time to find BossDog who gave me the confidence to put the business their way. The help in design and installation was of a very high standard. I will be using them in the future and would recommend them.
