There are a lot of outside elements and objects which pose a threat to the paintwork of your car on a daily basis. For instance, you could be parked next to another car, and someone may open their door and scrape it against the paint on your car door. There is also the risk of flying sticks, rocks, stone chips, wood pieces, and other debris hitting the exterior of your car and marking up the paintwork. The solution is called Paint Protection Film, although some brands and manufacturers may refer to it as PPF for short. Paint Protection Film is a nearly invisible clear vinyl wrap which goes over the paintwork of your car. The film serves as a barrier to protect the paintwork against things like scratches, stains, and scuffs.
Paint Protection Film (or PPF) was initially used by the U.S. Military. The film was applied to the edges of military helicopter rotors to protect them from potential impact by other elements floating in the air. Like so many products produced for the military, it has been found to have practical use in civilian life as well. People are able to save a lot of money each year because they no longer need to get their paintwork redone. The paint protection film does a good job of preserving the paintwork so that it remains in its original state.

Besides, the military does not care as much about the appearance of the film as civilians do.
