What are the best methods for car rust repair?
Newer cars do not rust as much as older cars. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t worry about rust because it can still strike if you’re not careful.
There are three different stages of rust to watch for. There is surface rust, scale rust, and penetrating rust. Surface rust is the first trace of rust on the surface of the vehicle. It’ll form in the scratches and nicks of the paint on the outside.
If nothing is done about it, then the strength of the metal will deteriorate. This is when you have scale rust. Once that continues to progress unrepaired, it will become penetrating rust. Then you will have holes in the metal. By that point, it is too late.
1) Remove Surface Rust
UV rays and cracked paint will cause surface rust. You need to use sandpaper to remove the surface rust until you see the metal underneath. Now apply primer to the metal and then paint over it.
2) Remove Scale Rust
If you let the surface rust turn into scale rust, then it means rust has gotten through the surface and into the metal. You’ll need more aggressive tools to remove the rust, such as a wire brush and grinding wheel. These tools will reduce the roughness of the rust.
After that is done, you can use sandpaper to remove the remaining elements of rust until you’re left with a smooth surface. Lastly, add primer and then paint over this area.
3) Remove Penetration Rust
Penetration rust is a challenge to repair. By this point, you already have metal flakes that are gone. You may even have holes in the metal tool. Obviously, you’ll need more than a wire brush to fix this problem.
You have two options here. If the holes are small, then you can remove all the rotten areas of the metal and replace them with welded patches of metal panels. Either that or you can replace the entire metal panel with a new one.
What our customers say

I found BossDog after searching on Yell.com and from the very start found them to be very accommodating. They turned around several designs for me within a very short period of time, each time I sent them back with small amendments a new design was back to me within an hour or two. I was very impressed with the artwork, the response time and the quality of the materials they used. I have been a heating engineer for 22 years and know exactly what you have to do to make sure your customers are 100% happy, BossDog did this. I would recommend them to anyone who needs this type of work to be carried out.
